I’ve been on this road since 97, I’ve felt some fire, but I aint’ felt no heaven

It’s been dead end days, chasing her lights, on a highway to hell,

with no detour in sight

Loose gravel and busted up roads, are the two things that I call my friends

On this highway to nowhere, I don’t know if its ever gonna’ end

But my lover, she’s waiting, she’s got to be waiting

 Up “around the bend”

I had an Arizona girl, with a California smile, been down through the South,

I kissed a crocodile, but that rocky mountain girl, she made me so high…

And I followed the signs, but they ain’t so good, I never stay long

Not sure that I should, leaving each night, on that highway to hell

But I still see her light…

Loose gravel and busted up roads, are the two things that I call my friends

On this highway going nowhere, not sure if’s ever gonna end

But my lover, she’s waiting, she’s got to be waiting,

 Up “around the bend’

Another sun comes up and we’re off again, me and this man made dream

Another thousand miles, under my feet, not sure if I’m ever gonna win

Loose gravel and busted up roads are the two things that I call my friends

On a journey going nowhere, not sure if its ever gonna end

 And my lover, she’s waiting…. she’s got to be waiting around…. (2x)

So it’s the guy that dreams for her, searches for her, finds her almost everyday, been then keeps looking, the grass or the road is greener “Around The Bend”

This song was inspired by one of my clients who came to me and said “I have this idea about a song”

I listened to his concept and we agreed to do a co-write on it, 50/50.

As for the artist who presents the song, that was me. So I went to work with my usual process.

My process took this song in a new key, new place, and I attached to a guitar idea I had. I then proceeded to write up the lyrics and hone them over a few months. I would often send a draft off to Michael Grasso, the co-writer. I was not sure what he ever really thought about any of it. Once I was making the song into a form for my sound, I just kept going with the production, the video. All the while, I really wanted everyone to get the meaning from the song that Michael had expressed to me.

This was my 1st co-write and I really love the whole process and how it turned out.  I am grateful to have had this experience.

As the guy tells the story,

“I had an Arizona girl, with a California smile, been down through the South,

I kissed a crocodile, but that rocky mountain girl, she made me so high…

And I followed the signs, but they ain’t so good, I never stay long

Not sure that I should, leaving each night, on that highway to hell

But I still see her light…”
